Patriotic Wreath

I would normally just buy some sort of wreath or hanging plaque to go on the front door, but after looking around on pinterest I found this and thought it would look perfect on my front door.

I did things a little differently.  I think that my wreath form must have been bigger or something.  Here is my supply list:

Cut the felt into 2x2 blocks, then fold from corner to corner, then corner to corner again.  You will end up with a triangle.  Then stick the straight pin through the tip of the triangle and into the foam form.  I did a lot of this and had some really sore fingers and thumb by the end, but loved the finished product.  The last thing to do is to stick the star stickers on the blue felt.  The floral wire is optional.  You can wrap it around a pencil or pen, straighten a portion to stick to the back of the star, then stick to the blue felt.  My stars didn’t want to stay stuck, so I used a little hot glue to help convince them to stay in place.

I followed the directions and they stated that you don’t need to go all the way around the wreath because no one will see the back and it will require more felt.  I was being thrifty and thought that I would only go around so far and kept holding the wreath flush against the wall to make sure that there wasn’t any green showing.  I finished it, it looked great, I hung it on the front door, stood back to admire it, and snapped a picture.  Wonderful, I couldn’t be happier with it.

I come back inside the house and go about my day.  A day or so later, I noticed this….

So, I took my wreath down and added felt all the way around it.  I admired it from inside and out front.

Patriotic Flag 3Now I have decided that I really need another one for the other door.  I am very happy with how it turned out and love that I have something so nice to hang on my front door that I did myself for the holidays.

What kind of door décor will you be doing for July 4th?

Hello!

Okay, this is just a first post so that I could have a reason to finally send all of you an email so that you can follow me/us.  I hope to use this medium to let you know what is going on with us (i.e. where we went, what we did, what we ate, you know all of the good and important stuff).  I figure that this can be my scrapbook of sorts since I don’t actually do that kind of thing.  It will just be our journey through life and your way of sort of being there and enjoying it with us.
